Hello, I’m Daniel Gill and this is a col­lec­tion of my life draw­ings in pas­tel, ink and oil. Here you’ll find my mus­ings on draw­ing, paint­ing and work­ing with fig­ure mod­els as well as my notes and thoughts on art, sketches from my books and a his­tory of my work in fig­ures since about 2003.

This site is used by Georges Le Cheval­lier at the Art Insti­tute of Pitts­burgh online in his Draw­ing 101 class. Please feel free to use it as a resource to study the fig­ure, com­ment on the work, and share your options an art, the process and draw­ing in gen­eral. Also use the con­tact form to get in touch.

Daniel Gill studied art with Joe Helseth and Bill Ransom in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He began his career as an art director in 1983 and has been an award winning graphic designer-illustrator for more than 20 years. Daniel has taught illustration at the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, Georgia and at The Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon. He was one of the founding members of the Illustrators’ Jam which later became Raw Visceralia, an art experience at PNCA. Pastels were Daniel’s first love. Counting Gary Kelley, Edward Degas and Toulouse Lautrec among his influences. He discovered oils in 2006 and is currently working on the series, Connective Tissue. Daniel lives in Portland, Oregon.

    LIke it! It is a bit tre­ble, I think you might want to add a bit more con­trast thought I do enjoy the ethe­re­al­ness if thats what you are hop­ing for.
