Study of Spirit in Yellow

From a series of nude sketches in pastel. I use a rub out technique taught to me by the late Lee Bomhoff, an Atlanta artist. I pull the pastel back off of the surface, giving the figure a very luminous quality as the paper itself is showing back through the layers of pigment. I’ll be doing a tutorial on this method in the near future. Sign up for my mailing list to stay informed.

A pastel drawing done with Schminke pastels on Rives BFK paper.
